LangChain

LangChain is the high-level open-source framework from LangChain, Inc. for building configurable agents and model-powered applications. Its agent harness combines a model with tools, prompts, and middleware, while standard interfaces and separate provider packages make it possible to connect models and services without placing vendor-specific details in the application core. Official paths support both Python and JavaScript/TypeScript. LangChain agents use LangGraph underneath for durable execution capabilities, but the products keep distinct levels of abstraction: LangChain is the higher-level framework, LangGraph is the lower-level orchestration runtime, Deep Agents is a batteries-included agent, and LangSmith covers tracing, evaluation, and deployment workflows.
